restoring peace within you with flower remedies
Discovered between 1920s-1930s by well-known bacteriologist, physician, and pathologist, Dr. Edward Bach, the Bach Flower Remedy System is a natural, safe, gentle, non-invasive system that can potentially address and balance any emotional state.
The 38 flower remedies of the Bach Flower Remedy System are organised into 7 groups:
Together with 1 ready-mixed remedy (i.e. Rescue Remedy), they can be used in permutations of 7, forming 293 million possible remedy combinations.
Natural, gentle, safe, non-invasive, and not habit-forming, the system can assist people (babies, children, teenagers, adults and seniors) of all walks of life, plants and animals and has been serving many from over 80 countries in the last hundred years or so.
Designed as an easy-to-use self-help system, Dr. Bach envisions a world where housewives can easily use the remedies on themselves, family members and friends. Henceforth, extending the holistic healthcare to homes and the community.
Dr. Bach in his years of practice as an allopathic medical doctor, began his journey discovering the Bach Flowers, after experiencing the limitations of Western Medicine, in that it addresses the surface of diseases, but not the root causes of it.
In his Heal Thyself (pg 7) article, Dr. Edward Bach explained,
"Disease is in essence the result of conflict between Soul and Mind, and will never be eradicated except by spiritual and mental effort. Such efforts, if properly made with understanding as we shall see later, can cure and prevent disease by removing those basic factors which are its primary cause. No effort directed to the body alone can do more than superficially repair damage, and in this there is no cure, since the cause is still operative and may at any moment again demonstrate its presence in another form. "
The root causes, Dr. Bach identified, are none other than our destructive emotions that result from a misalignment with who we truly are when we deviate from our life's soul purposes.
In our journey, we could be derailed by the influence of external factors (e.g., dominating characters, cultures, social pressure etc.) or by our own lack of virtue (e.g., pride, cruelty, hate, excessive unbalanced self-love, ignorance, instability and greed etc.), and our own lack of awareness of it all, living our life in auto-pilot. This being said, don't make yourself wrong for it all, life is a learning journey and it is a continuous unfolding process for everyone.
Hence, it is a rebalancing of these emotions, returning them to a state of equilibrium, that we find deeper peace within ourself, and are better ready to engage with those around us and navigate life.
Upon this realisation, Dr. Bach returned to nature, as he did when he was a nature-loving little boy, to discover the Bach Flowers, nature's gifts for humanity, that would serve as a natural, safe and gentle remedy set readily available to anyone.
”I want to make it as simple as this: I am hungry, I will go and pull a lettuce from the garden for my tea; I am frightened and ill, I will take a dose of Mimulus," Dr. Bach explained to his assistant Nora Weeks.
After years of relentless trial and error, experimenting with thousands of plants, Dr. Edward Bach is finally convinced at about 1935, that this system of 38 flower remedies and 1 ready-mixed remedy (i.e. the Rescue Remedy) was completed. A year later after his announcement of completion, he passed away peacefully on the evening of November 27th, 1936 in Wallingford, England.
